I love Austen, but if you don't, why bother? The key, however, is that under that demure exterior, she's taking the most tremendous swipes at her characters.

It just seems like something I think I'd like-I love the time period-but I keep putting the books down and not getting back to them. I don't know why. It's like I'm missing some little key to something that I'd enjoy otherwise.
