:sigh: Today, for the first time in years, I heard from a friend that I've known since we were both 4. He's all excited because he and his father are having a book of poems published.
By a vanity press.
It seems like all week I've been hearing about scammers taking advantage of people, and now the victim's one of my oldest friends. I just want to shake those lowlifes who take advantage of people's ignorance and vulnerability. I came so close to being one of their victims myself, only I was lucky enough to meet some REAL writers, who taught me better. It's making me want to get a license plate that says "Yog's Law."
To any writing hopefuls out there who might read this: Don't pay anyone to publish your book. People are supposed to pay YOU.
