The goblins are back, and I’m glad!
I laughed my way through most of Jim C. Hines’ first book, “Goblin Hero. (Except when I cried, which was what made it a good book.) This time I way have laughed a bit less, but I thought more. And that’s not to say I didn’t laugh! Those poor snakes…
Poor Jig is still sweet as ever (in his goblinish way), and his conversations with his god, Tymalous Shadowstar, are some of my favorite parts of the book. We have a new would-be goblin hero in Veka, who reminded me uncomfortably of my junior-high self at first but who turned out to be both endearing and satisfying. Slash and Braf both won me over, and Grell…hey, she kicks butt. She’d better be in Book 3. ;)
Not everything about the book is comfortable (goblin morality can be unpleasant,) but I enjoyed it, and I’m looking forward to Book 3.
