Argh!

I'm working on what I'm optimistically thinking of as "The second book of The Demonspawn Chronicles." In this book Our Hero, Malak, is known by another name depending on the situation. And I keep forgetting to change it!

Hmm. Makes it hard to do a Search & Replace to tidy the bugger up, don't it?

Exactly! And the names are similar enough that I "hear" them the same in my head, so nothing triggers me to switch. Besides, I think of him as Malak in either guise.

That's the challenge. Double him. ;)

Man! That is a toughy. Maybe a taped card to your computer? Use two different colors of index cards, so that when he's Malak, he's blue, and when he's the other name, he's red or some other color. Then if you're doing that scene, swich cards?

Oh, well, you know once you're in rewrite phase, you'll catch that sort of stuff, anyway, no worries!

I'm hoping! You wouldn't believe the stuff that slips by me. I've left characters sitting in a room because I forgot they were there.

The real challenge will be having both Malak and Melech in the same scene. ;)

Hmmm, tricky. I have that in book three when a certain major character becomes a spy. I didn't have as much trouble with the switch of name though.

When you get ready to share, let me know. (Rubs hands together)

Thanks! Of course, at my writing speed it might be a while. ;)
