I FINALLY got my garden in. It has yellow bush beans, peas (edible pod and not), half-long carrots and both red and black radishes. Oh, and the chives are running wild, as usual.

All sown by the world's most inept gardener, in a space about the size of a filing cabinet.

We'll see if anything edible turns out.

I also have lavender, mint and a pot of garlic chives that come back every year without any help (or hindrance) from me.

If you could make the mint stop coming back, I'd be pretty impressed.

Fortunately, I like mint.

yeah we like mint too but not to the extent that the mint likes the garden. We've found that with mint it pays to be violent every other year or so and eradicate most of it otherwise it takes over the entire garden...

That's what my chives do. They even take over the lawn.

The rest of my family have green thumbs, BTW. This year one of my sisters is growing what she calls "Fractal cauliflower": http://www.parkseed.com/gardening/PD/5069/NV/cid/pport0011

Good luck with it!

I have a concrete thumb, and the only time I tried veggies they ended up being eaten by swarms of bugs. But I'm trying some flowers this year, in one place.

My root crops have never worked before either. We'll see!

I put in some flower seeds this weekend. We must be bitten by the gardening bug, I'll say :)

I haven't put in any veggies, yet, because that garden is completely unprepared, still--the ground unfroze not long ago. I think I'll do a lot more to get ready in the fall this year.

I did nothing to prepare mine. I just pulled the weeds, dug up the soil, and planted.
