It’s after midnight, and I’m not very coherent, but MAN that was fun! Mike, my dad and I just got back from Camelot at Proctors. Awesome production. I’m still partial to Richard Harris as Arthur-this actor didn’t have the right innocence and vulnerability. He had enthusiasm and energy, though.
Guinevere was more worldly than I’m used to-but what a magnificent voice that woman had!
Speaking of magnificent voices, Lancelot was the actor who played Rochester in Jayne Eyre. Those 2 could’ve just sung duets all night and I would’ve enjoyed it.
Merlin looked like a sort of Rastafarian Druid-and the look worked. The Nimue scene was enchanting.
At least 3 musical numbers got cut, and the finale got shortened, which de-fanged Mordred a bit and robbed the ending of much of its power. I’m baffled about that.
(OTOH, they also cut the line about “Never be too disturbed when a woman is thinking. They don’t do it very often.” Hooray!)
I cried at the end despite the cuts. It was fun.
