melissajm: Cover for Between Worlds, by Melissa Mead, from Double Dragon Publishing (Default)

I just got my second YFOP ever from Realms of Fantasy for Frog/Prince. Doug Cohen even included some helpful feedback. Now, if I could only figure out how I want to incorporate it! Maybe I'll think better once I'm over this cold-which I hope will be before Albacon!

Woo hoo! Yay, yellow! And yeah, Doug often has some good suggestions. I've asked him for feedback from time to time, even on stories he passes up to Shawna.

So, what are you sending him next? :-)

This was good advice-one of the characters isn't fully developed. The character was an afterthought, and his role expanded just enough that he no longer worked as the spear carrier he was meant to be.

Trouble is, the more say he gets, the more he takes over. He's a bossy sort.

I've only had a story passed up to Shawna once. That was my other YFOP.

Bears next, if IGMS doesn't take 'em. I've been working on novels, so I haven't got much in inventory, but I like my bear story.

I figure reptile protagonists got a BFOD, amphibians got a YFOP...maybe it's time to move up to mammals? ;)

*L* We live out in the boondocks and it takes an extra day or four to get mail.

That, and the mailbox is at the end of a VERY long driveway.

Gr! Argh! ;)

In my noob-ness, I have no idea what YFOP, BFOD, or IGMS stand for. Could you please spare some enlightenment? ^_^ Thanks

Sorry, I was being lazy. Yellow Form of Promise (Realms of Fantasy's encouraging rejection), Blue Form of Death (standard rejection) and (Orson Scott Card's) Intergalactic Medicine Show.

Ah, makes much more sense now. I got an e-rejection from them so I never knew there was a color code. Thanks! ^_^

An e-rejection? I didn't think ROF did those! Who signed it?

I wasn't bright enough to realize that the piece I sent in was for a staff-only department, so after not getting a reply after about 3 months, I though I'd email to see how things were going, hence the e-rejection.
