Tech Support gave me a really thoughtful present this year- a Hannaford gift card. Now, at first glance that sounds crazy, because 1. That’s our regular grocery store and 2. The money just comes out of our shared budget anyway. But he knows me well. He sees me stop in the Exotic fruit aisle and say “Oo, I wonder what a cherimoya tastes like?” wince at the price tag, and put it back. So he basically gave my Inner Child permission to put stuff in the basket. They were out of cherimoyas, but here’s what Inner Child splurged on:
A guava
A blood orange
A bag of Meyer lemons
A box of panko breadcrumbs
A bottle of acerola (Sp?) juice
A head of Napa cabbage
A bag of plantain chips
A stick of shockingly expensive Irish herbed butter
Something that I thought was a persimmon, but now think was a passionfruit. It had a wrinkly purplish-red shell with seeds in a tart orange goo inside. Very tasty!

My Inner Child was surprisingly health-conscious! (She also watches Iron Chef.)

My, what a thoughtful gift; how many guys would have thought of such a thing? But it's perfect! I'm curious about plantain chips, too :)

I sort of dropped a hint. ;)

I've been eating the chips. They're good! They look like banana chips but taste more like Pringles, only with more substance, and with less salt than most potato chips.

If I ever see them here, I'll buy them. They sound great!

Look for them in the vegetable section, rather than the snack section. I usually see them on a rack at the end of one of the fruit tables.
