I'm trying to write a funny story for a project. It sounds like a really fun project, just the sort of thing I like to write, and I've been very psyched about it. But I've discovered something. When I write funny, it's usually short. I've started 3 different stories, and I have yet to finish one. The minimum length for this project is about 4-5X longer than my typical funny story. It's proving quite the challenge to write sustained humor.

Today's reason why proofreading is a Good Thing: "I'm taking this basket of teats to my grandmother," said Red.

(Grandma must be bottle-fed.)

...but inside it smells like fresh-baked cookes and buttered popcorn, the tree's lit, the presents are piled under it, and there's Christmas music on the radio. (And they really did start playing "Let It Snow" just as I wrote the header to this post!)

Ahhh... ;)

December: The weather ouside is frightful...

November: Official NaNoWriMo 2007 Winner

October: Well, I've gone and done it. I signed up for Nano. Confession: I don't expect to finish (especially since I'll be at WFC for the first 4 days.)

September: Eurocon 2007 Short story contest-#3. Big Game, Melissa Mead, USA

August: I will send a gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment here on my blog.

July: Rough draft of "The Demonspawn Chronicles" is DONE! :Happy dance:

June: After weeks of dithering on my part, "The Demonspawn Chronicles" has found its footing and I can see my way clear to a satisfying ending. Woohoo!

May: I made a tongue-in-cheek comment on a board about turning someone into a test-reader for my WIP-and THREE people asked to read it!

April: One of my pet stories, "Stepsister," has found a home. A nice one, too! It's going to be in Electric Velocipede.

March: I also just got an acceptance to the Black Box horror anthology.

February: Is it sacrilegious for a character to bite the Divine Being in the butt?

January: When I was younger, I believed that writers were magicians, with a mysterious power to make words live.
Now that I know how much work goes into the process, and how difficult it is...I'm even more in awe of those who can make it work.
